Our members range from published novelists to those just getting started. We're
interested in all forms of writing - articles, poems, short stories, novels,
scripts.
Our aim is to provide the support and expertise to get you from
unpublished writer to experienced author.
Main meetings (see Programme),
which are a little more formal, usually consist of a Speaker, a Competition, or
Manuscript Readings. Occasionally we run discussion panels on relevant topics.
We always have details of some external competitions and courses available.
Entry to Guppy's
is £2.60 for guests but otherwise your first two visits to York Writers are
free. After two visits membership is £15 per 12 months (Members under 21, £8),
but this includes annual membership for Guppy’s Enterprise Club and reduces the
club entrance fee to to £2.10 per visit.
